AMD 2 -Julia Hooker

For this AMD, I did the suggested assignment and read the blog written by Becca, an American exchange student in Germany (I think) and to say the least, it was entertaining. Like some of my classmates, I noticed a couple of vocab words, in particular, the Semesterkarte. I particularly liked the parts of the blog where she would talk about the differences between Germany and America in culture and in the general atmosphere. I cringed when she described the Referat. I knew it was a presentation, but the thought of 15-30 pages in German was distressing.
I laughed when she described her experience as having rapid-fire German going on around her at all times, and I imagined listening to one of the recordings in class at about ten times the speed, all the time. The result would be frightening. Another very interesting part was with the party of exchanging clothes called an Austauch, which I have to wonder whether or not it is a common occurrence. As Becca describes it, it is a party where you wear clothes you don't want anymore, and people go around exchanging clothes.
I would highly recommend the blog!
